I hope my message, though distant, virtual, reach the ears of those who still want to hear.
seems like yesterday when, in a minority, we strive to restore dignity to the many Italians forced, because of a policy ideological, silence and resignation.
Today the survivors and descendants of the people of Istria, Fiume and Dalmatia can finally pay homage to their family remembering the cowardly murder perpetrated by the enemy force with lucid madness.
last act is no longer objectionable to remember (it has been for a long time), with a proud sense of belonging, the sacrifice of those upon whom hath been begun the arduous process of internal institutional and material reconstruction.
Unfortunately what I feel now is so far away from that sense of accomplishment, which should seal the other hand so hard that he was to accomplish a mission, which I naturally thought: if the dream to go over the pages with a critical part of the story has now become reality, because a good part of national policy, and a certain intellectual elite, is still turning a deaf ear?
Why some are still refractory to deal with the right parenthesis that serenity of our history for too long left in the shadows of oblivion?
that I believe strongly in the value of historical truth, and then the work of revisionism that it must be functional, I can not accept the shame of the sinkholes is still relegated to the margins of national memory.
This is not to easily be manipulated for political ends, but to reassemble the fragments of a past which, if recovered, could not lost in the comfortable framework of memory.
And the fault at that point will not only be the usual detractors, but also those who, observing, will do nothing to prevent the flame goes out of memory forever.
not let the day of remembrance to become, in the imagination of people, due to a simple concession, but it becomes the highest moment of participation for the construction of a shared heritage.
